A Scary, Happy Day

Carter, oh sweet Carter... you gave your Mommy and Daddy quite a scare today. You are typically VERY active when I go to bed at night & fairly active on my way to work & I've normally felt little kicks and flips and punches several times by 9:30 or 10:00. Well, today at about 10:00, I started to panic a little because I realized that I had not felt you move AT ALL since about 9:00 last night. So I drank a Coke, poked & prodded you & did all the things that usually evoke a reaction. None of them worked. I felt NOTHING. So I went from e-mailing your dad to calling him & then the doctor. They wanted me to come in so they could check you. I could hardly speak when I called your Daddy back because I was so scared and upset. He immediately left work (my doctor's office is about an hour away from him) and I went into the office to get my room covered. I was absolutely petrified of anything being wrong with you. Everyone at work was just wonderful and immediately took care of everything. Mr. Powell, my principal, drove me to the doctor's office because I was too upset to drive. I got the the doctor's office and they put me in a room to check you. They were able to find your heartbeat quickly and I was so incredibly relieved. Soon after, your Daddy made it in and they hooked me up to a machine to monitor your heartbeat. Everything looked great. Amazingly, you still hardly moved. I can't tell you how relieved we were that everything is ok!!! We love you SO MUCH, baby boy!!

So, Daddy and I left and went through the drive through on his way to drop me off at my car. THEN you turned into a kicking, flipping, hitting machine. It felt like I had Jackie Chan in my tummy! So, even though we are thrilled that everything turned out ok, you will likely one day be grounded over the day's events. :0)

Also, today marks week 23 for you!! Only 17 more weeks until we get to meet you!! Last night, when I was going to sleep, I realized that your due date was exactly 4 months away!! It seems like forever, but I know it will go by quickly. We still have so many things to do before you get here! We have made SOME decisions on your nursery, but haven't bought anything yet. We also have showers that are being planned and so many exciting things.

I can't wait to meet you, little man, but I ABSOLUTELY LOVE being pregnant with you and feeling your every little move. So, please don't scare Mommy like that anymore! I love you!!!

Happy 21st... week that is!!

Today you're 21 weeks along, sweet boy! That means Mommy is more than halfway through my journey to have you!! You are getting so much bigger and stronger every day. Your kicks and flips and flops get more and more noticeable with the passing of each day. I love to sit and watch my tummy now. It's so incredible to be able to feel AND see you moving.

Last night was my first really sleepless night. I told Daddy that if he woke up and saw me on my back to nudge me so I could roll over to my side. Apparently, I accidentally wake him up ALL the time with my pregnancy moans, groans, sounds & twitches... so I figured he'd be awake a good bit anyway. I swear he must have "nudged" me and told me to roll over at least 47 times last night. And then some super-loud fire siren went off. I still haven't figured out exactly WHY the fire siren can be heard ALL OVER Butler, but it can. Hopefully, tonight we will get a little more rest, little man.

I've been taking pictures every three weeks to show my growing belly since week 6. Wednesday has always been my picture day, so I'll be sure to post a picture of how big I am at 21 weeks tomorrow. Only 19 more weeks until I get to meet you, my sweet boy!!

I love you so much!!!

So anxious...

So, Carter, I've been home for the past several days and I've had LOTS of time to think about your nursery. I've decided on your furniture, I'm fairly sure I've picked out you bedding & colors. Last night, I narrowed down the paint colors & I think I've decided on some of the decor. I also got out some of Sissy Rylee's newborn clothes for you. Don't worry, I'm NOT going to dress you in pink. But, I was never able to find out if Rylee was a boy or a girl before I had her so alot of the sleepers and onesies I had were for either one. You'll have PLENTY of new stuff, I just kind of like the thought of both of my babies wearing some of the same things when they are itty bitty. :0) I also got out the baby toys that I saved. One of them talks and says shapes. It sounded pretty creepy, but I'm sure it's because the batteries are at least 9 years old. Mommy will be sure to replace them so they don't sound posessed. :0)

Yesterday, Rylee and I went to Meridian and picked out some material so I can start playing around on my embroidery machine, FINALLY. I'm going to start off with making burp cloths for you. I hope to get to it today, but discovered I may need one more thing. That's the bad part about living in a small town... I can't just run back out and quickly buy what I need, so it may have to wait until tomorrow. I'm so excited about all these cute & creative ideas I have running around in my head!! Now I just need to make them realities!

I love you sweet boy!!

Champions...

Carter, tonight we are sitting in the living room watching Alabama play in the National Championship game against Texas. Since you are capable of hearing, I'm sure that you've already figured out that your Daddy is a HUGE Alabama fan. That goes for the majority of your family. When I say huge... I mean HUGE! The only "black sheep" are your Mommy and Sissy Rylee because we're both Georgia fans. Anyway, your Daddy is very superstitious when it comes to football & right before Alabama whipped Florida for the SEC Championship, he decided that the "BAMA" t-shirt that he had so proudly purchased you was going to be his biggest good luck charm of them all. Well, it worked for that game for sure!

Prior to tonight's game Daddy was getting everything set in it's place. Mommy is even wearing an Alabama shirt for the first time in at least 2 decades. Daddy got your shirt and placed it against him & requested a picture that can be added to your scrapbook. He said he wanted to tell you that next year, you'll be sitting in his lap in his recliner watching football with him. He also came and talked to you to give you some "Roll Tides" and kisses. I just don't know if I could ever tell you how much he already loves you and how excited he is to have you here with us! That goes for us both, by the way.

Trust me, baby boy, the love of football is a very big tradition for our family. You are being born into such an awesome family and this is our FAVORITE season! I just know you'll LOVE it like the rest of us do! I think you've already been enjoying the game along with us because you are VERY active!

We love you so much!! Roll Tide!!

Oh what fun!!!

Well, Carter, today Mommy discovered just how fun it can be to shop for a baby boy! Your Daddy limited me to a few minutes and not too many dollars, but I've been dying to shop for you since I found out you were a boy. I got you three of the CUTEST little Polo outfits! I ABSOLUTELY cannot wait to see you in them!! I picked up about 8 outfits at first, but had to narrow it down. So, I picked one, then your Daddy did, and then Rylee picked one and Shelbi agreed. Don't worry, sweet boy, Mommy will go back VERY soon and get the rest. :0) We love you soooo much!!
